GIVEAWAY: Gingercake Patterns

Virginia from Gingercake, is here to share her adorable pattern shop with us and to announce an AWESOME giveaway just in time for holiday gift making. You may remember her from the lovely Scrappy Pumpkin Tutorial. Take it away Virginia…

Hi!  I am Virginia Lindsay, creator of Gingercake Patterns.  I started sewing again (like many of you!) when my kids were new and I was spending more time at home while they were napping and playing.   I loved all the bright and beautiful fabrics available and I became addicted to searching for new projects all the time!  I eventually found myself with many ideas of my own and I loved the process of taking that idea and turning it into a perfected pattern.  I wanted to create items that were useful and thoughtful for our busy lives.  Since most of us already have an almost full schedule, a day spent sewing is such a treat and I wanted to create a line of patterns would be a treat for the sewer and the person she is sewing for.    For sewers, searching for that perfect pattern is like shopping at the mall for other women (we shop at the mall too!)~ we get to think about who we are sewing for, what fabric combinations we are going to use,  and always ask ourselves, are they really going to use this?  You don’t want to waste your precious sewing time on something that isn’t going to be cute and useful!  My favorite feedback from people who bought a Gingercake pattern is not only “we use this all the time!” but also, “i had so much fun making this!” We all know that we can buy something cute at the big box store, but creating a handmade gift is not only about who is getting the gift but about how much you enjoyed your time spent sewing!

This giveaway is for the entire collection of Gingercake Patterns. This will keep you busy well past the holidays!  In this collection you will find cute and stylish patterns for moms, kids, and everyone else on your list.  Enjoy your sewing!

Read on for the details on how to enter!

Yay, one for international readers! And what an amazing prize. I would start with the notebook slip covers, for all those difficult-to-make-for men in my life – my husband, dad, father in law, brother in law and brother! Then I'd make a Max the Owl for all my female relatives and the kids!

Reply
Amber

I would definitely start with the Make Your Getaway Duffle, one for me and two child sizes for my preschool girls. We'll be all set for our trip to see Grandma for the holidays!

Reply
Morgan

Lola is a must for my twin girls! And then I would create the art folio for my niece…thank you for turning me on to new and exciting things every day!

Reply

I loved her scrappy pumpkin! Made three of them already! 🙂

I would start with the duffle for me. 🙂 But then I'd make the organizer for my mother-in-law and the love your lunchbox for my sister.

My daughter's bday is in January, so I'd make the art tote for her, too. Love these!

I would start with the cute owl for my oldest son. He's had pnuemonia for two weeks 🙁 he could use a little buddy right now.

I love these patterns! I would love to make the crayon art folio for my kids to take along to grandma's house over the holidays!

Reply

I actually just bought the Crayon Art Folio, Katie Bird, and Owl patterns to make for my daughter for Christmas. I would start there and then move onto the other cute projects!

Reply

I would love to make the Kate Bird pillow for my 3 year old's birdie room! Then, the art caddy, then the owl pillow! They're all so great- it would be hard to just do one at a time!

Reply
AJ

I would make the Owl and the Bird for my daughter and then a second set for the Toy Society… then I would make the lunch bag for me 🙂

Reply

I would totally start with the love your lunch pattern, since I am two months away from going back to work – that might motivate me to keep eating healthy while Im a crazy back to work mama. Then when the guilt kicks in, I would do the crayon tote – for all the driving around during holidays. Seriously, they all rock.

Reply
Sara

I love the notebook cover! I think that would make a cute gift for just about anyone. I would probably make the duffel as gifts too, and one for myself!

Reply
Jen

I think I'd have to make the Love your Lunchbox just for myself just because it's cute! Then maybe I'd be nice and make a Lola the Owl for each of my girls. 🙂

Reply

I would love to make the waste free lunch sack and I really love the art caddy (I didn't see this pattern listed on the gingercake site.)

I'd make Max the Owl for my daughter and her college roommate for Christmas. They seem to have an inexplicable affection for owls!

I would need to make the owl first, for my sister who is mad crazy about owls, and then probably an owl for my son and daughter – neither of whom like to see anything actually leve the house that is made here (thay are only little – 4 and 2).
So many pretty patterns, and it is open to international readers – makes my (very rainy, blustery UK) day!

Reply

I think I would be totally selfish and make myself the Love Your Lunchbox first!!

I love, love, love her art tote design. This would definitely be a big plus at my house, since we don't have a designated art spot. The pattern would save me figuring out all those pockets for my lazy self! family blog with a few crafts – aureliamarie DOT com.

I absolutely love the Max and Lola Owl patterns. How adorable-my great grandmother collected owls-I think most of them have traveled to other family members so this would be a fun way for me to remember her!

Reply

All the patterns are so lovely. I would choose the art caddy first. I have three year old twin granddaughters and they love to colour and do crafts. Next I would make the crayon caddy, the lunch bag. I could go on and on. Love them all. I also downloaded the nightgown tutorial. It will be perfect for my two little munchkins.
Thanks for the generous giveaway.

Crayon Art Folio is the one I would make first, for my Anna but then, I will use them all. So cute and amazing, and lovely!

Reply

I think I would begin by making two lola owl pillows, one for each of my kids! The funny thing is that my late cat was name lola so it would be sweet to have an owl (my lola was loving all birds…loving might not be the right term for those unlucky birds…)so a bird name lola would be great!

Reply
Krista

What an awesome giveaway!
I'd have to start with that Katie Bird pillow! My second son is due in February and the theme of his nursery is "Three Little Birds." Seriously, if I don't win (and what are the chances?) I'm going to have to buy that pattern now that I know it's out there! It's perfect!

I just took my first sewing classes as I am pregnant with a little girl(My first). I knew I was going to have to start learning how to make little pillowcase dresses and eventually halloween costumes. I will be getting a sewing machine for Christmas and I am BEYOND excited about it all. I stumbled upon Prudent baby after my 2nd sewing class and LOVE your site =) I would/will definitely be making Baby Dennis the Lola owl pillows in her matching bedding fabric.

Reply

I LOVE these patterns! Thanks for having these on your fun blog! I would start with Lola the owl because I'm working on a new 'big girl' room for my toddler and a sweet little owl friend would be the perfect addition! But, after that, I'd make EVERYTHING. ALL of it. Please, I NEED these patterns. yes, need. I'm groveling, begging, and no, I'm not ashamed.

please (ha!)

I would start with the On The Go organizers, and I'd make one each for my mom and sister and of course myself. 🙂 Then I'd move on to the Make Your Getaway duffle.

Then I would make the purse and the journals for my sis-in-laws and my own sis! Mom and my mother-in-law would surely get one too! I would then make the lola and the birdie for some of my friends who recently had babies as these would make adorable additions to their nurseries! I love love love ALL of these patterns! I love Gingercake blog and read every week! I hope I WIN!

I'd have to start off with the Katie Bird for a friend who decorated her new baby's room with this sweet little bird. Every baby needs a LOVEY.

From there, I'd have to make a couple of the getaway bags. Those would make GREAT Christmas gifts!!!

Speaking of Christmas, notebook covers would be PERFECT teacher gifts!

Hope I win!

I would definitely make the duffle bag for my Grandmother. She is retiring in April and going on a mission, so this Christmas will be the last time I see her for 2 years! I think the duffle bag would help her with her travels (and hopefully to remember that I love her).

I totally love the bohemian headband. Just cut 11 inches of hair off and have been trying to figure out a cute way to pull it off my forehead.
The Owl is wonderful. A dear friend's son is an owl fanatic. We have already made him Owl garland for his room as a present and this is the ideal addition for christmas!

Reply
Tanya

I would probably start with a few lunch totes as gifts for my fabulous coworkers! But the Owls! Oh goodness, I'm thinking about owls for our nursery which we will begin to decorate after December, so I might have to make some of the owl patterns for myself! (It's for the baby! I swear!)

Reply

Thank goodness it is only November 8 so I have time to make more than one of these wonderful projects. I want to make a trio of the Make Your Getaway Bags for the next adventure with my two sisters, but I'd have to start with Art Caddy to make sure my daughter has an extra special surprise on Christmas morning.

Reply

I love creative people who aren't stingy! And I would by far have to start with the notebook pattern because I have been wanting to put together a notebook of my patterns I print off from you guys, helpful hints like which needle to use with which fabrics, and a section for my long wonderful wish list of beautiful fabrics and insipiring projects! Then I would most certainly make my little toddler the Crayon Art Folio! How cute is that! And I am super excited about the little caroler girl! 🙂 Love her!

Reply
Anne

OMG, so cute! So cute, in fact, that I will stop "lurking" and finally make a post!

If I had to choose… I would start with the Katie Bird pillow and make it for my bff who is preggers for the first time… not because she needs it for her nursery or any good reason like that, but because it is totally her and she would love it to pieces.

Next, I would make the art caddy for my god daughter… she is a very creative little lady and I always like to find and make homemade things from her "gute Fee" (fairy godmother)…

And then I think it would just be a free-for-all because there are soooo many cute patterns!

Omgosh! Everything is precious!!! I'd probably start on the Art tote though because we homeschool and my car looks like there was a massive Crayola war. On the other hand, all of the randomly placed super bright color splashes where crayons melted to the seats does add a certain pop the the dull grey interior…

I would make the art caddy for my daughter Claudia but my daughter Laura likes the lunch bag. My baby would like the bird, my two year old would like the Owl and I think my four year old Mateo would like the duffel bag. Heck I need to make them all!!!

I would start with the art caddy for my son… then I would get max the owl just because he is awesome. Then I would get the luncbox because my son needs a new one badly. Then I would get that katie bird pillow because I love it.
My fingers are crossed!!

I'd begin with making the owl pillow for my best friend's nursery — she's pregnant with her first right now!! Then the art caddy tote for myself! 😉

I love the lunch box but my dear son would love the Crayon Art Folio much more.

He is such my Mr. drawing/crafting man.

I'd like to say that I'd make Max the Owl for my daughter, or the Art Caddy for my nephew, or some other selfless gesture… but let's be honest. I've got my eye on the Getaway Duffel for little old me. 🙂

I would make an art caddy tote for all my crafty girlfriends followed by the notepad cover for each of them to put into their art caddy tote. And maybe one for me too.

I'd love to make an art caddy for my almost 3 year old. However, I'd probably start with the crayon folio to get my feet wet.

I think I'd sew the notebook slipcover first-it's so cute and useful and the fabrics you chose were great! I'd also love to make the Max the Owl stuffie for a friend whose daugthers' nursery is done in a bird theme.

My daughter was looking with me this morning, and she said to pick the Owl pillow for her. I said sure, right after Mommy makes the lunch box !

Katie Bird Pillow!!!! Ahh! I'm so excited…I'll have to buy this one if I don't win it. My baby girl's room is decorated in birds so she HAS to have this pillow…or maybe three! Love the owl too. 🙂

They're all so cute! I would make the lunchbox for my older son, but not until I had finished the On the Go Organizer for me!

Thank you so much Prudent Baby for getting me hooked on sewing!

My eldest daughter does art everywhere – the kitchen, her bedroom, the car, church, school – she even draws in the condensation on the side of the shower. She DESPERATELY needs an Art Caddy!

I have 2 daughters and a son, and it is often hard to find things to make for my son that are not babyish or girly (why has no-one created patterns around an 'A-Team' theme? I would be all over that!). However, now that he is in kindergarten, he is very interested in writing 'the kindergarten way' and in drawing, so the CRAYON ART FOLIO would be perfect! In a very manly print. And he would really like it to have Sharpies instead on crayons, b/c he's obsessed with those. But either way, this project would be just right for my little Mr T.

I would make the Love Your Lunch Box pattern first for my eco-friendly teenager Persephone. She hates waste and I would probably try to use some funky teen fabric or even upcycle some fabric from her too small clothes.

I love all the patterns – so practical, functional and really cute! I'd start with the "Waste Free Lunch Bag", cuz I need to be more eco-conscious and have less trash. Then I'd make a few notebook covers, and really get into the getaway duffle.

Wow! First off, I love them all! So first things first, I really want to make the dinner roll holder for my sister-in-law since she is hosting our thanksgiving dinner this year and I know she would love it! Then I will definitely make a couple of lola's for my cousin because she loves owls. Then I would move on to the notebook slipcover for my cousin (she is in high school) because she loves to have her stuff personalized and unique. Ooh, then I will definitely make a couple of little crayon art folio's! One for my son as a take-along activity on-the-go and for my friend's son who is also 3 because he is such a little artist! Love it! can't wait! 😀

The twins are going to love it for their birthday present on Saturday! Her directions are clear and precise, and she is right. Once you make the first one, you realize that you can whip out a dozen in no time!

I've commented every day this week on a different project, and I think its time to admit the truth: I have a problem. I want to sew every single thing she offers. I want to buy new fabric for each project. I want to be consumed by gingercake.

First of all, thank you thank you thank you for solving Christmas for me! We're buying our house in two days so EVERY gift is going to have to be home crafted and very prudent. Our friends and their kids usually camp in our garden overnight at Christmas (it's summer here in Argentina) so I'd start by making art caddies and crayon folios for Paloma, Fiona and Romeo, who spend all day drawing whenever they visit. My best friend Luciana's a writer so I'd love to make her a foxy notebook cover. Hubby Diego leaves for work before 6am every day with a tupperware of homemade muesli so a manly-print lunch bag would go down a treat. And finally for my all-time favourite person in the world, little Violeta, a flock of Katie bird pillows for when I finally decide to move out of my home office and let her have it for a bedroom (she's only 5 months so we're sharing for now). But maybe I'll be a little bit selfish and make an art caddy for myself before all the above: it'd be perfect for shlepping both work stuff and craft stuff between house and garden now the weather's warming up…

I'd start with the Art Caddy Tote. Then move on to The Waste Free Lunch Bag. That would be an excellent gift plan for the holidays. I have 9 nieces and nephews along with my own son to gift for this year. AND it's gonna be a fully crafted Christmas for us. YIKES. Lots to do.

I am a homeschooling mom of three, and we love to take our school outside, so I would definitely start with the Art Tote first. Then, I would make the Crayon Art Folio for my precious niece that doesn't leave home without her crayons. I love all of these patterns. So close to Christmas… What fantastic gifts:).

I'd definitely make the Lola Owl pillow first! How gorgeous! Then the Crayon Art Folio, my nearly 3 year old daughter loves drawing. It'd be the perfect birthday present for her, just before her baby sister arrives 3 days later!

I would start with the Lola owls first. I just gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Ophelia 7lb. 4oz. 7/15/11 and we have began to decorate her room with baby owls. So far we have a quilt that grandma made but these pillows would be perfect for mama to add!
