FRIDAY {SURPRISE} PRIZE

To kick off February as National Embroidery Month, this week’s Friday Surprise Prize was a Sublime Stitching: CAMP OUT Embroidery Pattern. A 8.5×11 sheet of multi-imprinting, iron-on embroidery patterns. And it’s freaking adorable!

And the winner is…Ouiser on the Bacon Cheddar Biscuits post who said: Heck yeah you can add bacon to anything. My daughter got the Melissa & Doug sushi play set for Christmas and was instantly obsessed with sushi. She begged me to make it. From experience, I knew that the first time she had it, there needed to be something familiar…something beloved. And by jove… I put bacon in those sushi rolls.

Umm, okay, bacon on sushi – had NEVER crossed my mind, but sounds AMAZ! Go ahead and send us your address using the contact form and we will send you your prize. Winners have 5 days to contact us before forfeiting their prize to another lucky reader.

Find out next week’s Friday Surprise Prize (oh man, it’s a good one!) after the jump…

We love it!

Look at the purse that Cynthia, owner of Fabricworm, made with this fabric:

I love Whale Love! This is the color scheme I was going for in my daughter's nursery in 2009 (and it was TOUGH to explain to people – am I the only one?). Now that Baby #2 is on the way, maybe it's time to actually finish my goals for the nursery. Baby #1 will be moving to a big-girl bed by the autumn; this would make an adorable coverlet on a toddler bed.

I think it would be a whale of a good time to make my little guy a cute pair of sleep pants…. and this would be the perfect fabric….

That fabric is amazing! I think whales are going to be the next big animal- you know, after owls and birds. I'd make a fun summer dress for my little girl.

Please let me explain why I need this fabric! We live on Cape Cod, and there is a store on Martha's Vineyard called Vinyard Vines and their logo/signature print is a pink whale. My husband now has a pair of swimming trunks that are blue with little pink whales all over them, and my daughters (ages two and four) think they are perhaps the funniest thing they've ever seen. How great would a little beach bag be with this fabric, or even a couple sun hats for the girls, or SWIMMING TRUNKS FOR MY 10-MONTH-OLD BOY?!

I'm learning to sew, and this fabric would be an incredible inspiration to use my daughter's naptime productively! I'd love to make her a swimsuit cover-up with this cute whale fabric.

I <3 this fabric!! I think I'd make a "whale-y" cute apron or a whale of a bag to carry my books :0)

I would make my 10 year old a Mac book bag, so when he was working hard at school he could smile and remember his life changing swim with whale sharks ๐Ÿ™‚ Bree Scott

oh so cute. This fabric would make an assume beach tote. I can see it full of all my beach going items. Lets see towel, magazine, snacks, sun glasses, sun screen and even maybe a little embroidery project.

I would "love" to win this. It is such a fantastic "whale" of a deal. My fish of a grandson would love new swimming trunks made from this!

I know it's selfish of me, but I wouldn't use this to make anything for my baby girl….I think I'd make some sweet pj pants for me! Ok, so maybe I'd make a matching pair for her too….. ๐Ÿ™‚

hmm…………now I could do a lot with 1 yard!
I will divide it into 4 fat quarters first. One FQ will make a nice cute purse/clutch!
The second FQ will be used to make a teeny tiny skirt for my teeny tiny girl!
The third FQ goes for my son's crayon roll!
Fourth FQ for a tie on slipper for me:)
So ,you see I will be using it super effectively:)

Such great fabric! I just received a new Amy Butler pattern book and have been dying to try out the laundry bag for my baby girl's room! (and let's face it, I need a laundry bag because little babies go through sooooooo many outfits in a day!) This fabric would be perfect for adding some fun into my daily chores!

Ugh, can I love a fabric anymore than I love whale love?? I'm not sure, but I do know that my son, Priest, needs some of the love in his room. A new lovee, a new outfit in time for spring, or a new stuffed whale full o' love! the possibilities are endless!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE whales. There you go. Maybe that is weird, but I love everything whales. When we lived in Hawaii it was my favorite past time- whale watching. Oh how I miss those whales…

I love this fabric. My friend just had a baby and she told me the other day that she would love a onesie with a fabric cutout on it that she saw at a store. After all that she has done for me, this would be the perfect fabric to make that gift.

Definitively a summer dress for my daughter and perhaps matching pants for my son! I'd need more than one yard though ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh how I love those whales!! I was thinking of cutting out a whale shape and attaching it to a shirt for my little boy, then maybe whipping him up an apron. He loves to do what momma does!! Never to early to hope for a little chef, right!! Oh and that of course wouldn't be a whole yard, so maybe a small clutch for use as my quick grab a diaper and some wipes and head out to where ever our adventures take us!! Thanks for the opportunity.

that is some mighty cute fabric. i think i would either make a bag/purse out of it or I would make a little "on-the-go" activities bag for my 4 year old cousin. Her birthday is in April!

aw, my son's name is Jonah & his favorite toy is a whale! How perfect to make a bucket hat for him & a matching one for his new baby brother who's coming in a few weeks! Yikes!!!

Me, I would make a diaper and wipes clutch, with a matching wipes case, and a small lap changing pad backed with minkie to match as well. That way, when I'm out and about with my brand new little one, I can show off my whale love and make all the other mom's at the playplace a little jealous at the same time.

ooh, my little munchkin is obsessed with whales right now; she would *love* something made from this. hmm, a dress? a bag? a hat? a stuffed whale? so many choices…

Oh I love this fabric, and I would have to make a darling dress for my little darling. I'm thinking kimono style with maybe a little ruffle along the hem. I think it is a perfect fabric for my little girlie, plenty of charm for a female human without the tons of pink and flowers. Cute, cute!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

I would love to make this into a sleeping mat that folds up into it's own pillow. Maybe even do it circular instead of square to fit the pattern on the fabric. This is just way too cute!

I just bought some of this same line in fat quarters to make a baby quilt – I would love to have a little more to work with!

I have no idea. That's my honest answer. But I would be so excited !! I would probably poll my bloggers for ideas, which is equally exciting.

when i have time

my fam lives in co,but are from ca.this whale fabric would sew up nicely into a sweet retro apron(maybe with some orange bias tape).I think whales in the kitchen would be a nice way to remember growing up by the beach.

Holy Cow- I just saw this. Where have I been?! Love it. Maybe a whale stuffed animal and/or one of those "Stuffed" wall hangings. I know know what they are called but you stretch it over canvas and then stuff an image into it. This probably isn't making any sense. That bag is seriously cute too. Maybe a throw pillow for the peanut's room…. too many options. I think it might create paralysis by analysis (in a good way!)

I always LOVE this fabric!!! If i have those I will make 2 drawstring bags for my 5 year olds twin to carry their swim stuff when going to pawpa's house to swim..(me bad..I just put in their suit in a roll up towel and when they get there their clothes is all over the deck) This is bright, cheerful, and colorful and keep in all in one place..perfect color..one likes orange and the other likes blue…

I want to believe I'd make pajama pants out of it for myself, or possibly my kids. Really though, I'd probably just stare at it, snuggle it and love it as my grown-up lovey.

I would make a beach blanket. I have some blue cotton laminate that I could use as the underside that would lay on the sand. My little girl will be the PERFECT age for her first trip to the beach this summer.

I would use it as the primary fabric for a diaper bag for my son! I have a store bought back but it has no heart. ๐Ÿ™‚
