GIVEAWAY: oliver + s little things to sew

We have been waiting for oliver + s little things to sew ever since we got a sneak peek at Quilt Market last year and it’s finally here! If it’s possible, it’s ever better than expected. The projects are clever and beautifully photographed and there is a nice range of age appropriate projects from age 0+.

Author Liesl Gibson is known for her beautiful & classic children’s clothing patterns, which you can find at fabricworm FYI, but I love that the projects in this book steps away from the oliver + s norm, instead focusing on accessories and toys. The projects seem very accessible for the beginner – intermediate sewist.

Every project lists the skills you need to finish the piece. If there is something you don’t know how to do… adding bias tape? adding a button or zipper? You know we can help!

Read on and find out how to enter to win this beautiful (and useful!) book

Quinn likes the blocks best!

Leave us a comment before Wednesday, May 4th at Midnight. Tell us what you have planned for your next project for a little one. Stumble, Tweet and/or Like the giveaway for extra entries each day (leaving a separate comment for each.) You can come back and enter every day!

I had a sewing lesson with my new-to-me sewing machine and made a changing pad cover with loads of guidance – with a zipper! So my next project wil be to make one all by myself. Given the nature of its function, I'm sure that it would be a good idea to have a back up:)

My next project is actually a pillowcase dress for our upcoming baby girl using the Prudent Baby tutorial. How's that for brown-nosing?

I've just finished some baby bloomers and matching shoes for my 4-month old niece. Next I might do a bit of scrap-busting and make her some one-of-a-kind toys… although everything is going in he mouth right now so fabric might not be the best option… hmmmmmmmmmmm

I am planning to make another Lazy Days Skirt (one of Liesl's free patterns). I made one for my daughter a couple of years ago (it was simple and so satisfying to sew–and she loved it since I used leftover fabric from a skirt I had made for myself) and with spring finally in the air I'm going to whip up another one for her!
P.S. Don't worry, we didn't wear our matching skirts at the same time!

I just made a black gingham peasant tunic for my toddler and I bought some yellow cotton to make shorts to go with it. I'm excited because I think the combo will be totally cute!

The other day I came upon my 2 year old meticulously putting an imaginary diaper on his baby…apparently my next project should be making a few additional diapers for my sons perpetually naked (to my eyes, apparently he wears pretend clothes) baby doll.

I have been working on peasant tops for my soon to be daughter all week. I think my next project is to start on some tunic tops. I think the pattern alteration shouldn't be too hard to figure out! Since I am getting a lot of hand-me downs for baby, I have been focusing all of my energy on toddler things. Yay to planning ahead!

I'm thinking about surprising my husband and daughter some matching sun hats for her birthday (What's up, 3-year-old?!). They always end up in similar outfits without knowing what the other is wearing, they both love hats, and I have no doubt they will wear the heck out of 'em. After that, I'm going to make her some bloomers. Bloomers! I can't wait!

My next project: finish the 8 million bibs I've started! They just need velcro, so it's not a huge project. And then: a stuffed animal or some clothes. Baby's not even here yet, though, so no huge rush.

I think my next project will be a little summer dress for my daughter- maybe a simple pillowcase dress. I just got some pink polka-dotted fabric that would look great with some green ribbon.
Also, I have a free pattern from Oliver + S, and love it!

I have a seedling of an idea growing in my mind of a peacock costume for little one, Milo. He loves birds and he would be adorable as a little blue peacock this Halloween. Better than last years' hand me down bumblebee costume.

Working on Jazz outfits for recital right now. The moms are trusting me to make it good without prior approval of the outfit. So fun! I love having a general vision, but being able to change it up as I go!
