Quinn’s Animal Birthday Party

This weekend we celebrated Miss Quinn Frances’ 2nd Birthday – Animal Style! I couldn’t commit to “circus” or “jungle” so it just ended up as a mash-up of the elements I liked most from each. There was also a little hand-made, a little store-bought and a few things I just had lying around the house. Quinn was only concerned that there be monkeys and elephants. Check!

Over the next week or so I’ll be posting a few DIY’s and the sources for all the party goodies. If you have any thoughts or questions, leave a comment! It could win you an oliver + s pattern from fabricworm!

I love the chocolate animals with eyes! Actually, I love everything! Did you make the cake yourself? I am not a huge fan of making cakes, but I love that idea of stringing a banner across the cake! Super adorable.

The cake! The orange elephants, and what are those, candy peanuts? And the banner… I am about to faint over the cuteness.

I love the cake. I can't wait to start planning my daughters first birthday. I'm thinking Dr. Seuss because her favorite book is by him. Thanks ladies!

Happy birthday Quinn! Love the elephant tablecloth and the fun colors. When I read "animal style", I immediately thought of In-n-Out. Too bad I live too far away to have one right now.

Jacinda, I really love the elephant birthday cake and the tip top elephant fabric tablecloth. My daughter's fave animal is an elephant so you gave me excellent ideas for her next birthday. Thank you for being so inspiring. – Bethany

That white giraffe with the pink hat stole my heart. Lol Every year during Easter break, my whole family gets together at my mother's house and we have an "everybody's birthday" party. Since we are all spread throughout the US, it's hard to get everybody together for birthdays. So we came up with this solution. The funny part is when we sing happy birthday and get to the,"happy birthday dear…," we name everybody in the house. Total fun craziness.
Anyway, we have a different theme every year and dress/decorate accordingly so we like to plan in advance and start picking things up here and there. One of my fav sites for affordable party stuff is http://www.orientaltrading.com

The only thing cuter would have been a balloon animal conga line led by the kids!!
We can't wait for baby's first b-day (he is 5 months), so we have decided to do a half birthday-that way we can also enjoy the sunshine of the summertime!

Becky – (comment 8) I hope you're having a cookie party for your girl! All types of cookies, cookie shaped cake, colorful cookie recipes/cook books as decoration, maybe Cookie Monster can make an appearance..

Jacinda, you really did a great job with the party! That banner on the cake is the ONLY banner I think I've ever liked. Don't know where the aversion came from, but the little name banner on the cake is super cute. I'm waiting on the cake tutorial lol.

I was just thinking last night that for my daughter's 2nd birthday in June, I should throw an animal themed party. More specifically ducks and dogs as that is what she's obsessed with! Thanks for the ideas!

Beautiful! I'm so excited to see your DIY's! My daughter's birthday is coming up, but we have to fly back "home" to NC from AZ and can't do all the fun things I was planning.. but at least I made some things to take with! But it's always fun to see ya'lls gorgeous birthday parties! 🙂 Quinn is gorgeous and looks like she had a great time!

You are truly my inspiration! You do so much with two little girls and a baby. I don't know how I'm going to do it all with Joleen and Johnny, but you inspire me!

I don't think I would have thought to use the Circus Peanut candy for the cake, and to use it as a boarder is super cute!!

I also loved the chocolate animals and their super large eyes.

Really good job.

Everything looks so cute! Love the jewelry making idea, love the banner across the cake, and love the retro pattern on the box with favors – is it fabric?

Happy Birthday Quinn!
This party is absolutly adorable what a colorful way to celebrate, I really love how you used the circus peanuts on the cake. Did you make all those balloon animals yourself? Now thats talent. I always end up with popped balloons when I try!

Ok I absolutely love the cake! The peanuts are so cute. I am thinking about how to incorporate this cake into my big girls next bday! Love it!
I have been out of the little kid parties for at least the past 3 or 4 years because my girls are 8 and 10. Last April we had our 3rd little girl so I am back on the kiddie party band wagon.

My mom got me one of those balloon animal kits a long time ago, they are super addicting. But at our IHOP there is a guy who comes on kids night and does balloon animals, my daughter asked for a Unicorn. My husband and I totally cracked up, but the guy tried, his first attempt, well, he tried to leave room for the horn, and it ended up looking… a little risque, but the second time he nailed it. Someday, after many years of balloon making I might be able to do it, or I'll just forget it and sew something…

Oh my! I love it! I have been aiming to decorate my sons room but can't decide between jungle/circus/forest! So I can relate to the jungle/circus dilemma.

That polka dot orange balloon is definitely an eye catcher for me! The cake with the name banner, the digging in the "dirt", and the birthday party favors are all very unique and gave the party a personalized touch to it. This is inspiring me to plan a safari themed party for my kids in the fall. Thanks!

LOVE THIS THEME!!! I was soooooo hoping for DIY info since my daughter turns 2 on Friday and LOVES animals! I will be using some of your ideas! What is the sand pail thing? Was it a game for the kids to dig and search for animals? Cute idea! She also has a BAZILLION stuffed animals, and I think they will all be adorned with party hats in her honor for the event. 🙂

Hi Heidi-
I just buried a bunch of animals in the sand and they could use the sifters to discover them. I told them they could keep one but mostly they just wanted to toss back and find again. So simple and fun!
