Fill Your Heart in Jordan

Scarlet, Carleton, and I recently had the pleasure of touring the beautiful country of Jordan. From wandering the green north of Jerash, to luxuriating at the Dead Sea, to unplugging in the quiet desert, to exploring the wonders of Petra, to relaxing at the balmy red sea of Aqaba – we had the experience of a lifetime. The most overwhelming feeling we came away with was a sense of welcome: This country adores children and truly made our family feel at home. Come along with us as we discover the top 15 things for families to do in Jordan. What do you think? Will you add Jordan to your list?

A big thank you to the Jordan Tourism Board (also on Twitter) and our tour guide Ibrahim Semrin. I’ll share more details, specifics, & suggestions for visiting Jordan in upcoming posts, so ask questions in the comments and I’ll answer them soon. Happy travels!

To be honest, Jordan had never occurred to me as family vacation spot — it just seemed too, I don’t know, complicated. (And eek! maybe even scary!) Now I’m completely intrigued. And I’m finding myself thinking it would be so great to expose my kids to the middle east in a positive way. Thanks for sharing Jaime. So jealous!

I had heard wonderful things from a friend whose family is from there, but seeing the video and the photos was really the tipping point. Jordan is now on my list!! Thanks, Jaime.

What a beautiful video and I’m sure an even more magical experience in person! I have never thought of Jordan much, but have always been intrigued by the Middle East. I would love to take my family to visit Jordan someday, thanks for the inspiration!

Jordan has been on my list, but since having kids I thought it might not be a good idea. Oh how wrong I was. Your video made me fall in love and now I want to bring my entire family to experience this beautiful country. Thank you for sharing and showing us what an unexpected treasure this country is.

My husband has always wanted to go here. Did you feel safe in the country? With all the upheaval in countries near it did you feel safe? We travelled egypt a few months before the chaos broke out there but I was still nervous while there. Secondly did you do a tour group? And if so would you recommend it?

hi laura! yes, it felt completely safe. jordan is a peaceful country, and tourism is a huge part of the economy, so the services, amenities, and security are top notch. i did not for a single second feel unsafe. frankly, i felt safer then i often do here at home in Los Angeles đŸ™‚

oh, also, we didn’t do a tour group, but we used a tour guide and a driver, and i would definitely recommend it as having an archaeologist guide added so much to our experience. Also, just FYI about 80% of the people speak English which also makes it an easy country to travel in! i’ll share all my recos and contacts very soon!

I never thought about going to Jordan either, but this seems like a wonderful and intriguing place to visit. I definitely think it should be extended to families with grandparents!

Amazing trip, Jaime, so many life changing experiences for your whole family — and Scarlett is going to love love love having this special family video. I think it’s inspiring how you’re able to get out and travel with your daughter. I feel a little intimidated about how to make travel happen again in my life now with two young kids but you make even international trips to a country like Jordan (that I didn’t know was not only kid-friendly but also pretty) look so easy!

On a side note, what is the music? I wanna Spotify…

How dreamy and romantic, really stunning. I’ve never hankered for a visit to the middle east but now I wonder. Can’t get the picture of that waterfall and tents in the desert out of my head. My kiddo was looking over my shoulder and got very excited about the camels too. BTW, your family is outrageously beautiful. Mercy.
