A Monthly Box ‘O Magic: BabbaBox Activity Kit Giveaway

I have been a BabbaBox fan for a long time and I love it so much, I know you will too. The subscription service from Babbaco is awesome… each month a box arrives on your doorstep brimming with all of the supplies and instruction you could possibly need to create crafts, science experiments, reading, games, and more with your kids.

Each month there’s a theme that unifies all of the elements, a past favorite was “space” where we mapped the phases of the moon every night, created a planet lantern, and looked through the telescope to find constellations. The box on gratitude was awesome. This month’s theme is “sprouting seeds”, and the box includes a seedling kit to decorate your own pot and plant in it, a Curious George gardening book, a seed sorting & planting activity, and the first craft we did, which was to create flower pens and use them to draw on included coloring sheets…

And each box comes with a treat for parents, too.

Umm, yes please and thank you. And the bee pollen, such a clever touch for a gardening themed box. We are giving away a BabbaBox, so find how to enter (and get an exclusive discount code just for Prudent Mamas) after the jump…

So, to enter the giveaway, leave a comment suggesting a fun theme for a Babbabox, have fun with it. Hmm, I think a box on “saving” could be awesome, like learning how to save money and save memories. A box on sewing would be a big hit around here, of course. Or maybe a box on grapes, with vine themed crafts, and a bottle of wine for me, ha. Leave a comment with your idea for your first entry, and for additional entries, sign up for the Prudent Baby You Tube channel, follow Babbaco on twitter.com/babbaco, and/or sign up for the Babbaco newsletter, and leave another comment each time letting us know. Contest ends on Monday, August 13th 2012 at midnight PST, but you can come back daily between now and then for new entries.

We also have a little exclusive coupon code action for ya’: Save 20% on your first Babba Box with code PB20OFF.

Good luck!

I think a good follow up to the seed box would be one on preserving the harvest. A fun strawberry jam would be easy for children or dehydrated veggies for a winter soup. Thanks for a chance to win.

I think it’d be neat to have a box on Dreams – maybe a deam journal, a book about interpreting your dreams, a craft on making a dream pillow with herbs stuffed inside of it?

Of course, if it were me, I’d make it a box all about YARN – maybe a how-to on finger knitting to make a garland or scarf, yarn balloon craft supplies, or even making yarn wigs for Halloween! 🙂

A box on geography maybe? Like highlighting a continent or country. You know, with folk tales and costumes and FOOD and wildlife and a handcraft or two. For example Central America or even just a single country from there like Guatemala, and have a Mayan Indian costume to make or wear, and weaving (like the native people do on hand looms)and ceremonial mask making, and jungle wildlife highlighted like jaguars, howler monkeys and spider monkeys and parrots or toucans. Plus for the parents maybe natural cacao nibs or chocolate dipped espresso beans after all Guatemala has some of the finest coffee and chocolate in the world! just a thought… 😉

I think smells would be fun! My daughter is getting into that stage where she is definitely curious about the world around her and one of the things we’ve been experimenting with is smells. How the different herbs in our herb garden smell, different spices that I add to food, flowers, and even the gross ones too (I’ll leave that one up to your imagination)

A box on the four seasons – either four separate boxes that you’d get at the start of the season, or one box that goes through the process and would include nature, weather, food, etc.

Just thinking of what’s interesting my son right now, a box on volcanoes would be cool, or one on wind. I have had to take to the internet many times to look up wind-related questions I don’t know! They could make their own kites or pinwheels, learn what causes wind and what it can do.

I think a really good box idea would be art. They can create this in so many different ways. Such as a color by numbers for a really significant painting. Then maybe a disposable camera so they can take pictures and then make a frame and paint it before putting your photos they took into them.

To explain, it could be how to make your bed, how to brush your teeth, how to clean your hands, tie your shoes, put on your shoes, etc… So many things, I have an almost 3 year old and the independence is running deep. This could make it more fun to learn to be independent. What a great company, I am putting this on his birthday list for family a far. Thanks!

Maybe a box on weather. My kids love observing the weather and my daughter asks me questions all the time like, “how does the water get into the sky to fall down and rain?” and “are air and wind the same?” She is also interested in the effects of weather on things, like the cold making leaves change and fall or the warm starting flowers and leaves to bud or how the rain makes our plants perk up.

If it hasn’t already been said. What about a box on adventure! You could do a scavenger hunt where you could go out and find indigenous plant and snap a photo of wildlife. You could have some information on all the cool parks around the US and all of the cool things you would see and find. You could paint your dream adventure and write on the back who would go with you. I guess technically it would be an explorer travel adventure of the US. Then you could branch out after that to different countries.

It is a great product…I wish they had one for grown-ups!

What about a “sun” themed box. The box could contain a solar powered toy (like the little moving flowers in a plastic pot), sun activated fabric so the child and parent could make relief prints with objects laid on the fabric and then placed in the sun. There could be sun activated beads to string together and then placed in the sun to change color. A thermometer to measure temperatures throughout the day, materials to assemble a solar oven to bake cookies in and a coloring information sheet to learn about the sun and it’s properties, including information on how to harness and use it’s energy for our earth. I LOVE this company and all of their boxes! Such a great idea! Thank you for th eopportunity to win!

I love all things international, multi-cultural & geographical and I have tried to nurture this love in my kids. I think it would be awesome to see a “Get to know your World” box (or series of boxes). Boxes could center around geography, continents, cultures/countries, etc. The culture box idea is my favourite. Kids could learn about customs, dress, food, a few words in a certain language (cue flash cards). And for a special treat, the box could include snacks common to that part of the world, whether it be a specialty item or an uber common one that you could buy at any store. SO FUN!!!

I would like something on responsibility and/or safety. I think your idea on saving was great also. Maybe they could tie in together with like an allowance/chore chart and having fun decorating some kind of “bank” container. Then, whenever their container is full or has a certain number of things (coins, buttons, pom-poms, etc) then the child can cash it in for something!

What about making cookies and different shaped cookie cutters?

What about dental hygiene? There are so many kids I hear about with poor dental health.
