Spring will be here before we know it so it seems perfectly reasonable for us to share a how-to for the adorable ice cream-shaped soap that we made for Quinn’s Ice Cream Social Party this year. You can use any silicone mold or  candy mold, like these soft serve cones, to create some good clean fun in soap making for any holiday or occasion. Here’s how we made (or actually just molded) our own soap to include in our party favor bags. Adorable!

Directions:

1. We selected Double Butter Glycerin Soap for a creamy opaque appearance and cut off four 1″x2″ chunks. You can also look for soap that includes olive oil, coconut oil or cocoa butter or shea butter.

2. Place them in a microwavable cup or bowl. A measuring cup with a spout is perfect to pour soaps.

3. Follow the directions on the soap package and melt the soap to liquid form in small time increments, stirring the ingredients in-between. You may want to wear goggles and gloves but this process is fairly safe.

4. Once melted add desired soap coloring  and soap making fragrances or fragrance oils (essential oils) for scents. There are so many soap recipes but lavender and rosemary are popular options, plus no chemicals!

5. Before adding the soap to the inside of the mold, I sprinkled some rainbow nonpareils in the mold. Notice that the stick is filled with soap from the first “pour” and stays that way throughout.

6. Carefully pour soap base to fill the mold cavities with your first batch of soap.

7. Let the soap harden for approximately 20 minutes, or as directed on packaging. The soap should pull out of the mold easily. If you are doing loaves of soap make soap bars, you will need to wait longer.

Wrap finished soap in favor bags, cardboard treat boxes, or decorative baking paper or freezer paper for a pretty presentation. We tied ours up with festive polka dot washi tape. If these are going to small children, perhaps you will want to label them as soap so their parents don’t let them sneak a bite. We are still using our cute Summer soaps and we hear they were a big hit with all the tiny party goers and not one bar was eaten as far as we can tell.
