Pretty Prudent Home Sneak Peek: Jacinda’s Bedroom Hideaway

IMG_4767Jaime and I have been hard at work wrapping up our upcoming book, Pretty Prudent Home (Abrams, Spring 2015) and in doing so have created some lovely, cozy, and yes prudent spaces to share on its pages. We are forcing ourselves to keep it all top-secret so that the book feels 100% new, fresh, never seen before (you get the idea) but as you know we are sharers so that is all very difficult for us. LUCKY for us, we promised our friends from Lamps Plus that we would give a  sneak peek at the beautiful products which we have personally picked out to feature in our own home tours for the book.

We will get to the Lamps, ohhh there are lamps but first let’s talk about the “Plus.” In this case accent/end/side tables. There are many. They are gorgeous. Head over to Lamps Plus for a browse and then tell us which is your favorite end table in the comments, or pin it and tag @prettyprudent and @lampsplus! Here are a few of my favorites…

1000

a. Cheree Mirrored Accent Table ($249.99) – I have been coveting this designer darling for so long. It feels modern and sophisticated and its mirrored angles juxtapose beautifully with rustic decor but I’m personally partial to the way it mirrors (heh) the angled lines in the fabric which my friends at Spruce Upholstery used to recover my precious, comfy, (and formerly hideous) chaise. The “before and after” will be in the book. It’s. pretty. crazy.

Read on for more details on these gorgeous tables and more pics of my cozy new bedroom reading nook.

b. Langley Branch Round Gold Leaf Table ($607.50) – Delicate iron branches finished with gold leaf intertwine to support a solid circle of granite. This stunner is more a piece of art than an end table.

c. Antique Brass and Black Tray Table (SALE $119.95 thru 1/26/14) – Fun fact: Jaime and I both separately picked this versatile and affordable table for our homes. I love that it can be used as an end table, night stand or bar cart. Or night stand / bar cart. Just kidding.

d. Zuo Prisma Grey Outdoor Patio Stool ($158.91) – In the sea of wicker and teak outdoor furniture, it’s refreshing to see a unique option like this fiberglass, UV-coated end table/stool which comes in several bright colors.

e. Square Iron and Glass Newman Side Table ($540.00) – This beautiful end table is on my wishlist for our living room. It’s not an impulse purchase but I know that the clean modern lines will stand strong through fads and whims.

f. Slate Finish Fiber Clay Ottoman ($135) – This inexpensive stool/ottoman/table has the trendy industrial look of concrete but it’s round shape and in-set handles give it a softer sophistication than its sharp angled counterparts. These would be beautiful for a protected outdoor space.

g. Gloria Antique Brass Mirror Accent Table ($199.00) – For spaces needing a more traditional touch, I love this elegant two-tier brass and mirror accent table.

h. Jamie Young Campaign Folding Side Table ($462.50) – The folding campaign table is recreated and updated by designer Jamie Young into a chic side table. The metal legs in matte silver are a beautiful complement to the warm natural wood top. A great look full of style and function.

i. Criss Cross Metal and Wood Stool ($89.99) – Another fun fact. Jaime and I ALSO both selected this criss-cross metal stool to use as a side table. I guess it’s good that we like some of the same things… we ARE writing a home book together after all. This small table is perfect for tight spaces as the open bottom keeps your room feeling airy. It adds an exotic touch at a low price point.
IMG_4781This entire set-up was planned for a corner in the living room but was staged here in our bedroom awaiting Christmas tree removal. Alas, during that time we both fell in love with having a cozy reading spot in the sunny morning window of our bedroom. I’ve always wanted an arc lamp and the selection at Lamps Plus provides options in a huge variety of sizes, finishes and price points. The quality of this arc lamp in person is so stunning. It’s perfect for my space and the base is a impressive slab of heavy marble. I love it so much and since mid century modern decor is the aesthetic to which I always return, I know it’s a wise investment piece that I will keep forever.

Gah!! Love this little peak! That side table with your newly upholstered chair are beautiful together! I bought Ramona an orange Crosley songbird for Christmas, and it didn’t work! Now Target has taken them off the site. First world problems over here.
