Pumpkin Spice Scone Recipe

Make these for breakfast (or dinner, or midnight snack) right now. Kevin’s Famous Scones is one of our most enduring popular recipes on Pretty Prudent (for over five years!). I’ve added a little pumpkin spice to it for the holidays and I can say, ’tis delicious.

The Simplest Pumpkin Spice Scones

Ingredients
2.5 c flour
0.5 c sugar (I like turbinado sugar)
2.5 tsp. baking powder
0.5 tsp salt
6 Tblsp COLD unsalted butter
3/4 c heavy cream
0.5 c pureed pumpkin
2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Directions
Pre-heat oven to 425 degrees.

Mix first 4 ingredients (flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt) in a stand mixer (or by hand).

Add cold butter (chopped) and mix to a mealy consistency.

Add cream and mix again to combine.

Add pumpkin, vanilla, and pumpkin pie spice and mix a final time (don’t overmix, just combine).

Place onto flat surface and form a circle. Sprinkle with more sugar (turbinado if you have), and cut into wedges.

Place wedges on baking sheet (we always use a silpat for easy baking). Bake in 425 degree oven for 15-17 minutes.

Over the weekend, my niece and I bonded over our shared love of baking. Together, we tried out a new recipe that turned out to be a huge hit. Not only was the baking process enjoyable, but the end result had us both wanting more.
