Cool Stuff for Back to School: The Mom Edition

All of the Pretty Prudent kiddos are back at school. Miss Scarlet headed off to second grade last week…

gordo In honor of school being in full swing, we are here to share a few back to school supplies that are more fun than no. 2 pencils and story journals. Just a few ways to treat yo’ self as we head into a busy Fall. I mean, the kids can’t have all the fun. But there are a few goodies in here for them too. We’re not monsters.

This Summer in Rhode Island, the girls and I were each treated to a Lolo bag by my sister Amanda. There are tons of cute options but this mesh style with a cute ampersand is awesome for pencils (or makeup brushes.!)

EEEP! The Silhouette Curio is here! What makes it the perfect compliment to the already beloved Portrait and Cameo? With the Curio you can etch and stipple metal, sketch multi-color designs, cut custom designs, emboss and deboss, and use unique project surfaces like leather, wood and canvas.

Prefer some analog paper cutting this Fall? Every craft room deserves a proper paper cutter for super sharp straight edges. I use my Fiskars Rotary Bypass Trimmer for all kinds of projects but especially love it for helping the girls with their school presentations. They do all the work themselves but I don’t mind lending a hand, and a sharp tool, when they are ready to put their presentation all together. For their own cutting, we are obsessed with these Fiskars Kid Scissors. We all love both the way they cut and their cool designs.

An Epson LabelWorks kit is any organizer’s dream. I’m not super organized but I’m completely obsessed with this little machine’s capabilities. It makes me want to be Type A! With the change of a cartridge, you can print on not only adhesive labels, but iron on labels and ribbon. It’s perfect labeling everything the kids need for school, even their hair.

We were recently introduced to Write Dudes and their super fun line of gel pens including neon, metallic and glitter. This Write Dudes Scribble Stuff Value Pack offers 8 of each style in a beautiful color assortment. A few fun pens can make writing more fun this year.

Now that you have stolen all of the kids fun new pens, it might be time to spurge on that tablet for which the kids have been begging. What’s holding you back? The garbage content? the price tag? The scary, scary internets? We suggest taking a look at a durable and colorful Fable. It comes stocked with apps hand selected by education professionals. Fun apps like our favorite Toca Boca games. You can also purchase more activities like e-books and educational activities. The Fable is browser-free so your kid won’t be lured into watching videos of people opening toys and crap… or worse. But the best part is the $129.00 price tag. My kids have been playing with ours non-stop.

And let’s end with some gorgeous Rifle Paper Co. Birds of a Feather Notebooks. It’s a set of two with sixty-four unlined pages and metallic gold foil accents. They are beautiful and I love that the unlined pages lay flat when I sketch or write… with my stolen gel pens.

I think you guys forgot to add a bottle of bubbly to this list! Minor oversight, I’m sure. At least that is what I’ll be doing on my kids’ first day back next week!
