To Quilt Market We Go!

Last weekend I road-tripped to Houston to see all the news in quilting and also fabric, sewing patterns, trim and craft books. As you might imagine, I took hundreds of photos so I’ll be sharing more throughout the week. Here are some gorgeous highlights of all the delish eye candy that I spotted like the circa 52 by monaluna for birch fabrics organic (available in november) pictured above. The new Ruby Star Shining by Melody Miller for Kokka featured on a vintage suitcase (below) was one of the show darlings.

Sarai Mitnick was there signing her new sewing book, The Colette Sewing Handbook: Inspired Styles and Classic Techniques for the New Seamstress, and showcasing her collection of beautiful sewing patterns. Here are her frocks…

Natalie Lymer was there with her sweet Woodland collection. The embroidery patterns were pure sweetness.

Of course, you already know how we feel about Anna Maria. Here is the bag that I stole off of the wall in her booth. Just kidding. However, if you felt the stunning velveteen, I doubt you would have blamed me. Yes, there is much much more from Anna Maria’s booth to come. Want to see more…

But there is more than just fabric at Quilt Market. Here is a glimpse at one of the thousands of vintage tea towels for sale from Dusty’s Vintage Buttons and Textiles.

I haven’t sewn much with wool but all of these gorgeous colors had me dreaming of hats, bags and quilts.

Three lovely designers from MODA were stand-outs. Lucie Summers’ Summersville was total cuteness for boys and girls.

And Annela Hoey’s A Walk in the Woods and Ellen Luckett Baker’s Quilt Blocks. Yes, those little samples came home with me!

Alexander Henry’s booth was pure fiesta, inspired by their new Folklorico collection.

There was lots of buzz for David Butler’s (yes, that is Mr. Amy Butler) Curious Nature Collection for Parson Gray. Finally some fabric perfect for manly sewing!

Of course MRS Amy Butler was there with her LARK collection which is already available in shops. EEK! So pretty.

While the soft subtle patterns of Shabby Chic don’t usually speak to me, this time they really caught my attention with their lovely breezy appeal.

Handbehg was there with their vibrant wool felt balls in so many sizes! I can’t wait to show you all the adorable ideas they had for felt balls like these sweet acorns.

Our friends at Kreinik were there with all of their gorgeous metallic threads for machine and hand work. I love using their stuff, especially to get fancy for Christmas.

Lori Holt’s Daisy Cottage was lovely and her booth was filled with amazing ways to use her fabrics. So many pretty projects in a few square feet. Stay tuned for more loveliness from Lori.

I know you are all going to love this Sheri Berry Woodland Tails cheater quilt but we have to wait until February!

How handy will these Riley Blake ombrés and chevrons be?

I know you all love Laurie Wisbrun! Here is a sneak peek at her new line, Modern Whimsy, along with new fabric lines from Ann Kelle and Jennifer Sampou.

Then there are the booths with the amazing Japanese felt work. Yes, all these treats are made entirely of felt! Kicking myself for not grabbing the out-of-print book!

I have to show Rising Star by Melody Miller one more time. It really is that awesome.

Of course we can’t skip the pretty Echino, which is already available!

I stopped by to visit with our friends from Simplicity and spotted all of their adorable slipper patterns and kits showcasing tons of their pretty trim. So many great ideas for a pretty and cozy handmade gift!

Aren’t these modern and simple quilts gorgeous? I’m inspired.
