Cookie Cutter Confections: A Simple Party Treat

Here is a simple last-minute sweet treat to use as a party favor or kid-friendly activity.

Read on for the quick DIY

Melt chocolate. This time, I used some orange melting rounds that I had on hand. You can also use high-quality chocolate although the melting process can be more tricky. For a compromise of practicality and taste, I would use Wilton Premium Candy Melts. And maybe add some ghoulish accents with a paint brush.

Pour a few handfuls of melts into a microwave safe bowl.

Microwave for 30 seconds, remove and stir.

Microwave for an additional 10 seconds at a time, stirring each time.

Repeat until smooth.

Spoon into a disposable pastry bag. Close up the top with an elastic and snip the tip.

Lay your mini cookie cutters out on flat, portable surface like a cookie sheet or cutting board with a layer of wax paper.

Fill the shapes with melted chocolate. Be sure to fill all the corners. When you get to the top of the cutter, keep the tip of the bag under the surface of the chocolate, it will stay smoother. Be careful not to move the shapes.

If they are too lumpy for your liking, you can scrap the tops with a toothpick and push the chocolate into holes.

Tap the board lightly on the countertop to settle the chocolate but not to much to disturb the cutters.
Let them sit or harden for about 1/2 hour on the counter or 15 minutes in the freezer.

Once hardened, take to them with edible food marker

And you’re done! My mind is reeling with all the creative and fun ways to decorate and embellish these. Send your guests off with a treat + a cookie cutter to use at home, or pop the chocolate out on a platter and reuse your cutter to make more.
