Harem Shorts Tutorial
Start by using an existing pair of shorts as your template. Place the shorts on the fold. Extend the bottom of shorts down about 2 inches, this will give it the harem look.
Cut two pieces.
To make a waistband place the two leg pieces together where they would be sewn. Use the width to set your waistband width. Cut two waistband pieces that are the four inches tall and the width of your shorts.
Sew the inseam.
Flip open the legs and pin them together to make your shorts. Sew together.
Cut a 2 inch piece of elastic to about three inches smaller than the waistband.
Set the elastic in the middle of the waistband. Fold the fabric over the elastic and sew it all together.
Sew the front piece of the waistband to the back. Serge or zig zag stitch the ends to keep them from fraying.

Pin the waistband to the top of the shorts.
Sew all the way around.
Flip up the waistband and your shorts are almost done.
Hem up the bottom of each leg to complete the shorts.
