Last April Scarlet and her best friend Niko turned 6, and OF COURSE they wanted a “Frozen” themed birthday party. They have been having their birthday parties together since they were born (they still talk about their 3rd birthday “Dora” themed fiesta).
At the time, all things Frozen were sold out in every store everywhere, so we just went with the flow. This party isn’t necessarily full of Pinterest-worthy photography, but it was full of cheerful children and we had a magical time.
An Olaf pinata from Etsy was the perfect way to feature everyone’s favorite goofy snowman.
Do you want to build a snowman?
My partner in crime, Matt, and I were pretty much the BEST PARENTS EVER (at least for one day).

I commissioned this beautiful cake from Danielle at Sheila Mae. She is an artist and the children’s eyes nearly bugged out of their heads when they saw it.
We hired a “snow queen and princess” from the local experts at Beverly Hills Princess.
They acted out the “Frozen” story, then hosted a sing-a-long with the kids. The children were enthralled.
Before the party, I used a craft punch to cut out hundreds of sparkly blue and white snowflakes that we tossed about. They were the perfect easy decoration, and the kids handled the clean up by picking them up and taking them all home.
Also, Elsa dresses were as rare as unicorns at the time of the party, so Jacinda’s daughter Clare let us borrow hers! Jacinda shipped it from Texas and sensitive-skinned Scarlet threw a t-shirt under it because it was “too scratchy.” She still looked like a queen đŸ™‚
One of the highlights was the beautiful face painting they princesses did…
I created this fun “Do you want to build a snowman?” activity and the kids went NUTS for it. I purchased styrofoam balls in three sizes from Michaels, then hot glue them together to create little “snowmen.” I made them stand up by hot gluing two popsicle sticks into an X, and gluing the snowmen on top. I then set up a kids size table (rented, along with mini-chairs, from Party Pronto) with ramekins filled with things to decorate your snowman. Everything was something you could attach WITHOUT using glue, but just sticking it into the styrofoam. So I cut pipe cleaners to create snowman arms, and then went to the papercrafting/scrapbooking section of michaels and got brads in all kinds of fun shapes and colors (snowflakes, buttons, etc.), so the kids could just stick them on. I made 50 snowmen and they all were made!
We snagged this Olaf pinata on Etsy and filled it with candy.
For favors, we bought these pre-made favor boxes as party of a “Frozen Party in a Box” from Birthday Express. They were kind of spendy but the kids LOVED them, and the kit came with a banner and some pink party hats. I glue craft-punched snowflakes to them, and stuck blue and white feathers into the tops. The kit also came with those fun purple goblets, some mylar balloons, and other decorations that the kids loved and kept the party set up simple.
For food, we debated getting some Scandinavian specialties like smoked fish, but we went with pizza and a snowcone machine. All in all, it was a magical day for our little Anna and Elsa.
Absolutely lovely, Jaime.
