Select a color for the first section of the wing and load your paintbrush with that color. Apply the paint to the wet area on the paper. You’ll notice the color starts to spread and blend with the water.

Start by preparing your workspace. Set up your watercolors, brushes, and water container. If desired, secure your watercolor paper to a board using masking tape to prevent it from buckling.

Start by lightly sketching the outline of the butterfly on the watercolor paper using a pencil. You can either draw from observation, use a reference image, or even trace the butterfly if you prefer.
