Lune’s Dreamer Mobile

Photobucket
There are a zillion different kinds of mobiles out there in the world but I have yet to ever seen one like this beautiful creation by Jill from Lune Vintage. Jill definitely has a knack for unique craft ideas like this Crochet Planter. Along with crafting, she owns her own store and loves to thrift. I’ll definitely keep her Tips to Finding Beauty in a thrift store post in mind next time I go thrifting. Needless to say, we were so excited when she said she would guest post for us here on Prudent Baby.

Now that you have seen this beautiful creation, want to learn how to make it yourself? Jill will take you through the step-by-step process of making your own Dreamer Mobile after the jump.

Simple Scallop Skirt Tutorial + Glow In The Dark Embroidery!

We picked up some glow in the dark thread and this cute owl pattern this weekend and planned to make this simple elastic waist skirt for Fall. As a little twist on the standard, we scalloped the bottom edge. Totally fun and twirly, and easy enough to sew up a little holiday specific number for Halloween or Christmas.

Floriani Heat N Shrink and Free-Motion Quilting

I’ve told you how much I love hanging out like a shameless groupie in my local sewing shop, Arlington Sewing Machine Supply Company, so when my friend Emily asked me to tag along while she bought her first sewing machine, I jumped. It seems I can’t walk into that place without getting schooled. And I mean that in the best possible way.

While Shannon helped Emily load up on supplies, Carla pulled me aside to show me the cutest lil’ girl nightgown that a customer had made. The nightgown featured a yoke with sweet puckered fabric. It looked a little smocked, a little quilted and all the way adorable. Then they showed me how she did it with Floriani Heat N Shrink. Have you seen this stuff? Take a look at the process and tell me what to do with my flowers…

Yarn Bombing: Dallas’ Winspear Opera House Has Me ‘Hooked’

Like all of us with an eye for the crafty, I’ve been intrigued by yarn bombing over the past few years. There is something so whimsical and marvelously frivolous about putting all of that work into a piece of temporary art. It’s like cake decorating to me in a way. Making a moment in time magical with something beautiful. So I couldn’t help but take a ‘million’ pictures of the yarn-bombed grounds of the Winspear Opera House, an installation inspired by their latest production, Hair. It was just so happy and beautiful. Does this inspire you to ‘bomb’ something? Wouldn’t it be fun to crochet up a sweater for your front yard Oak? Or surprise a Fall birthday friend with a granny-squared mailbox? Maybe that half-finished afghan would be enough to cover your lawn flamingo? No surface is safe!

Breakfast Pizza

We interrupt your regularly scheduled programming to present you with a novel concept: turn the grill on for breakfast.

I’ve been enjoying grilled pizza so much that I had to give it a try with breakfast pizza.

I followed our Grilled Pizza Recipe to a T, but instead of sauce I used sour cream as a base, and piled on scrambled eggs, potato and onion hash, some garden tomatoes, and green onions.

Definitely a hit. Give grilled breakfast pizza a try, the kids will think it’s hilarz to have pizza for breakfast.

Loving Postcardly!

Sponsored post.

I love sending mail and keeping the family and friends updated but I have found myself running out of time to even get out to the mailbox. This is why I am so excited to have a sponsored post by Postcardly today. They have made my life so much easier and with the holidays coming up I have a feeling I will be using them just about all the time. Take it away Postcardly

We have a hunch that your baby is so cute that everyone is clamoring for pictures all the time. It’s easy to share photos online, but what about your friends and relatives that aren’t so plugged into social media and photo sharing sites? When you’re juggling diapers, sleep deprivation, and a wiggling baby, the last thing you want to think about is how to print off and send a picture to your Great Aunt Irma.

That’s where Postcardly comes in handy. Just write an email and attach a picture, and Postcardly will turn your email into a physical postcard and send it to the address you specify through the U.S. Mail. No rustling through the junk drawer to find a pen, standing in line at the post office for stamps, fighting with inkjets, or taking SD cards to the drug store. Just a quick email from anywhere in the world, and any device with an internet connection.

When your Great Aunt Irma opens her mailbox and there’s a postcard featuring your message and a high-quality picture of your beautiful baby, addressed to her, it’s almost as good as the day she gets her tax refund. Postcardly makes sending letters and pictures easy for parents and makes checking mailboxes fun again for everyone else.

Now you can see why I’m kind of obsessed with Postcardly, it’s so easy! I even follow them on Twitter and Facebook to make sure I’m in the know of what they are coming up with next. I cannot wait to send Grandma and Grandpa daily updates of every single occasion. Is it weird that I even want to send them a postcard of the cupcakes we made the other day?
