A Hard Rockin’ Weekend

Hard Rock Riviera MayaI recently had the pleasure of spending the weekend at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya. This Hard Rock has everything you are used to from the Hard Rock experience (lots of cool music memorabilia, and a fun attitude), AND it is an all-inclusive resort. The added bonus of this spot is the music-related activities.

Besides all the great night clubs and pool-side rockin’ out, you and your friends or family can participate in the Music LAB, where you learn to play instruments, make a music video, or spin like a pro DJ. So I threw on my leopard print and got into the spirit (I played the keyboard in our rendition of Sweet Home Alabama).

It was super fun. But my favorite part was definitely all the beautiful views.

Traveling in Style: Gone Glamping

One of my favorite parts about glamping is finding a totally unique place to stay. I’ve slept in an airstream in the desert, a gypsy boat house near Puget Sound, and now I have my heart set on a treehouse in the forest. The increasingly popular glamping trend leaves no lack of one-of-a-kind places to cuddle up under the stars.

Check out top destinations, recipes, and our style guide for you and the kids for your next glamping adventure…

DIY Braided Yarn Table Runner

DIY-Braided-Yarn-Table-RUnner-on-Pretty-Prudent-_1I tend to gravitate towards neutrals and earth tones in my home decor, but now that spring is in full swing, I’ve wanted to bring in some pops of color. A table runner seemed like the perfect solution for that. This DIY Braided Yarn Table Runner is really easy and fun to make. I turned on a good movie and got to work braiding. It was complete by the end of the movie, and I even made another one for the fall and winter months.

Jacinda and Jaime are Coming to Seattle’s Land of Nod!

Land of Nod Pretty Prudent Home

We are thrilled to announce that next week we are coming to see y’all in sunny Seattle for the first stop on our Pretty Prudent Home book tour! On Thursday, May 14th we will be signing books and teaching a lil’ gold leaf workshop at Land of Nod’s University Village location in Seattle from 7-9pm. We are excited to see you, see each other, and drool over all the Land of Nod goodness for Spring. At Pretty Prudent we have always loved working with our friends at Land of Nod so when we were writing Pretty Prudent Home, we begged Land of Nod Creative Director, Danielle Kurtz, to contribute a brilliant tip list about Organizing Kid’s Toys. It’s seriously awesome. Speaking of which, I better go back for a refresher course, but first crafting. Let’s meet up in Seattle for some fun! RSVP HERE to reserve your spot for the workshop.

DIY Flower Napkin Rings

DIY-Flower-Napkin-Rings

Put flowers on the table all year round with these reusable DIY Flower Napkin Rings.  I’ve made napkin rings before with real flowers, and while they are gorgeous, their beauty is fleeting, which is why I decided to use fake flowers this time. They take about five whole minutes to make and turn out so pretty for spring.

Little Forager Skirt Tutorial

Little

I have been babysitting quite the little forager lately. She loves to spend the afternoons out in the garden collecting flowers, sticks, and pretty much anything else she can find (yesterday I found a half eaten carrot and pebbles she snuck into my back pocket). I was inspired by her to make this sweet Little Forager Skirt. It does not require a pattern, and has a flat front with elastic back, so it’s easy to get on and off your little one.
