We still have so much to show you from the glorious Quilt Market so we decided to dedicate this week’s Link Love to more cool stuff from the show. You don’t mind, do you? Quilt Market might be over and the fabric designers have taken home their wares but you can still make your way to Quilt Festival in Houston this weekend for plenty of fabric and supply shopping and to check out some amazing masterpiece quilts. I lose my keys, I don’t know, like five or six times a day. So I decided it was time to create something to hang them from, right by the front door. I grabbed a wood plaque from Michael’s, some screw-in hooks, a little paint, fabric, and mod podge, and here’s what I came up with. I even added an extra hook for the Prudent Dad, though he is usually the one finding my keys, which are usually buried in my purse. But that’s not the point: The point is that you can make one of these very easily! You know what was really funny, was that Carleton totally loved this thing, and immediately hung his keys on it, then when we went to leave the house to go trick or treating, we could not find his keys anywhere. It took us ten minutes to realize they were hanging on the keyholder, HA.

This is Your Book was created by a dad for his newborn daughter, because he wasn’t feeling the baby books he came across in stores. I’m so glad he did, because this book is a totally fresh and rad take on the baby book – I love the idea that it’s a book made by a dad, that a modern dad would enjoy filling out.

From basic info such as their baby’s height, hospital and hair color, to fun thoughts on all the baby names that were ruled out, to random statistics such as the U.S. Dollar to Euro exchange rate and the price of a bottled water, this book will provide great insight into what the world was like when their child was born, and will be a fun stimulus for conversation and education with their child in the years to come. I made these for the Prudent Advice Launch Party, and they were so easy and quick. I love the way they turned out. They were also a great excuse to put my new Simplicity Rotary Cutting and Embossing Machine to good use. It’s so awesome and fun! This garland would make a great addition to any party and put all your fabric scraps to awesome use. It would also be cute in a nursery as a fresh take on the pennant garland.
