Link Love – Quilt Market Edition

We still have so much to show you from the glorious Quilt Market so we decided to dedicate this week’s Link Love to more cool stuff from the show. You don’t mind, do you?
Quilt Market might be over and the fabric designers have taken home their wares but you can still make your way to Quilt Festival in Houston this weekend for plenty of fabric and supply shopping and to check out some amazing masterpiece quilts.

First up, I’m so excited to share this new line from Birch Fabrics, Circa 60 Beach Mod by Monaluna, which is just too dreamy for a boy nursery. I’m considering repainting just so I can use it…

Click through to see the rest of the linky goodness. And don’t forget to leave a comment. Maybe you will win Jaime’s lil Mod Podge kit later today!

DIY Decoupage Key Holder

I lose my keys, I don’t know, like five or six times a day. So I decided it was time to create something to hang them from, right by the front door. I grabbed a wood plaque from Michael’s, some screw-in hooks, a little paint, fabric, and mod podge, and here’s what I came up with. I even added an extra hook for the Prudent Dad, though he is usually the one finding my keys, which are usually buried in my purse. But that’s not the point: The point is that you can make one of these very easily!

You know what was really funny, was that Carleton totally loved this thing, and immediately hung his keys on it, then when we went to leave the house to go trick or treating, we could not find his keys anywhere. It took us ten minutes to realize they were hanging on the keyholder, HA.

Anyhoo, Get the full DIY Key Holder Tutorial after the jump…

And this week’s prize for fave comment is a little starter set of mod podge, fabric, and sponge brush so you can take a go at making your own. Just leave a fabulous comment and you could win it!

Giveaway: World’s Coolest Baby Book!

This is Your Book was created by a dad for his newborn daughter, because he wasn’t feeling the baby books he came across in stores. I’m so glad he did, because this book is a totally fresh and rad take on the baby book – I love the idea that it’s a book made by a dad, that a modern dad would enjoy filling out.

This is Your Book is a modern twist on a baby journal that gives parents an opportunity to record thoughts and fun facts about all the vital information from the day their baby was born. From basic info such as their baby’s height, hospital and hair color, to fun thoughts on all the baby names that were ruled out, to random statistics such as the U.S. Dollar to Euro exchange rate and the price of a bottled water, this book will provide great insight into what the world was like when their child was born, and will be a fun stimulus for conversation and education with their child in the years to come. Written and designed by graphic artist and father of two, Ryan Maconochie, also known as Star RM. You can view more of his works at www.starrm.com.

Could this book be any cooler? Check it out:

I’m so excited to be giving away a copy of this book to one lucky Prudent Baby reader. It would be great for your own kid, but even cooler to give as a gift because it will make you seem very awesome and hip. So, to enter this giveaway I am honoring my fave page:

So just leave us a comment with what you would write on that page – what other names did you consider for your kid? I’m so lucky we had a girl because Carleton wanted to name our son Wolf. Yes, just Wolf. He was adamant. Whew. I wanted to name her Zsu Zsu, from It’s A Wonderful Life, but he nixed it. There’s always next time.

So leave your comment anytime between now and midnight, Wednesday, November 10th. Come back every day for a new entry. Tweet, Stumble, and/or share the giveaway on facebook by clicking “like” below and leave us another comment each time letting us know for an additional entry. We will select one winner at random and send off the coolest baby book ever. And, guess what all you super awesome international readers, here’s one you can enter! This book can be won by readers anywhere on this planet. Or, you can just go ahead and order one here: This is Your Book.

Easy Fabric Strip Garland

I made these for the Prudent Advice Launch Party, and they were so easy and quick. I love the way they turned out. They were also a great excuse to put my new Simplicity Rotary Cutting and Embossing Machine to good use. It’s so awesome and fun!

This garland would make a great addition to any party and put all your fabric scraps to awesome use. It would also be cute in a nursery as a fresh take on the pennant garland.

And remember, leave a comment on this or any post this week and you could win that cute little decoupage kit up there on the left!
