Jammin’ with Jaime: All my fave jam recipes!

blueberry mint jam recipe 3
It’s that time of year again… time to start preserving your summer haul and making delicious recipes to eat, give, and enjoy all year long. I rounded up my favorite jam recipes that I’ve shared with y’all on Pretty Prudent over the years. I hope you enjoy them as much as Jacinda and I do! This Blueberry Mint Jam is Jacinda’s kids #1 most favorite; this entire plate disappeared in about 38.4 seconds.

Our Caramelized Onion and Roasted Garlic Jam is my absolute favorite. This savory jam is perfect on a cheese plate, perhaps with some fresh figs.

Blackberry Basil Jam brings earthy basil and sweet blackberry together for a bright kick in your mouth (the good kind of kick). My in-laws liked this one the best, and the color is so pretty packaged up as a gift.

My Watermelon Jalapeño Jelly recipe makes my husband so happy. A zing of spice in every bite, but still so refreshing and light. Perfect with grilled meats at end-of-summer barbecues.

This Strawberry Balsamic Jam is super sweet with the balsamic adding just the right amount of depth to the flavor.

Tangerine Vanilla Bean Marmalade is rich with vanilla and citrus flavor. I love it on toast for breakfast all year round.

Now that you’ve made some jam, embroider some mason jar labels for your jars if you have the machine embroidery skills (if not, get our Machine Embroidery 101 here).

And finally, do yourself a HUGE favor and make Jacinda’s husband’s famous muffin recipe: Rick’s Rich Jam Muffins. THEY ARE SO GOOD. TRUST.

Ready to Pop Baby Shower

This post is sponsored by Target. Thank you for inspiring us!

Ready to Pop Baby Shower
One of my best friends just told me that she is expecting her first baby. I couldn’t be more excited for her and haven’t been able to stop thinking about fun baby shower themes. Although I loved the idea of putting a new spin on a Hot Air Balloon Baby Shower, Made in California Baby Shower, or Hey Baby! Baby Shower, I wanted try something totally different. One of her favorite summer treats is popsicles, so it just seemed perfect to make it a Ready to Pop Baby Shower.

I’ve pulled together some of my favorite details that I had at my baby showers, and incorporated some new ones, to create this complete guide for how to plan a Ready to Pop Baby Shower. This guide is pretty versatile so it can work for any theme you might choose.

Super-Soft Back to School Style

Disclosure: This post was sponsored by GapKids through their partnership with POPSUGAR Select. While I was compensated to write a post about GapKids, all opinions are my own.

Super Soft Back-toSchool Style | Pretty Prudent

Over the years I’ve mentioned my daughter’s issues with anything scratchy, stiff, or sticky – all the SPD parents out there “get it” and if you don’t “get it” count yourself lucky! Now that we are entering first grade (OMG, already? She was bald and couldn’t walk when we started this blog), she has a much better time managing her issues with touch, but she still can only wear things that are superdupersuperduperextra soft. So when GapKids asked me to check out their back to school line, I was thrilled to see so many stylish SOFT items. Now Scarlet can learn, run, jump, and play all while looking adorable and feeling great. Our favorite items for back-to-school from GapKids are the marled moto jacket, floral knot top, harem slub pants, and glitter bow headband (this girl always needs some glitter somewhere).

I adore these loose fitting jersey pants with their flat waistband and modern pleats, and with a DIY sparkle bow necklace and some gold bangles, they make the transition back to school easy-breezy (since it will be about 90 degrees when she starts in a few weeks). When the weather cools down we will throw a long sleeve tee under the sweet knot top for winter fun. She loves that it’s pink, i love that it’s not PINK, you know what I mean?

Scarlet and I both ADORE the moto jacket – it transforms her handmade summer dresses into cozy fall gear. It’s a soft jacket with a hard edge to it – so versatile, and did I mention soft?

There’s so much more cuteness going on over at GapKids, soft stuff for kids that like to snuggle, and tough stuff for kids who love to play rough and tumble.

Flower Friday: The Second Life of Fresh Flowers

Flower Friday: The Second Life of Fresh Flowers

This week Greta from Glasswing Floral and I were inspired by a quote in Jaime’s book Prudent Advice for Every WomanWhen fresh flowers start to wilt, cut their stems and put them in tiny vases. We did just that, but instead of typical vases we came up with our own creative vessels using items from around the house.

As we see it, the first life of flowers in the home is the beautiful arrangement. The second life comes when half of them are on their way out and you save the rest, that way you get more out of your flowers. The third life is when you preserve the arrangement by making bouquets with the dried flowers. We were having so much fun filling the tiny vessels that we decided to throw in one of Greta’s succulents too. Ready to get started?

Mango Sriracha Popsicle Recipe

sriracha popsicle recipe | Pretty Prudent
YES! You can make a sriracha popsicle. In the great history of paletas, mixing spicy and sweet is a grand tradition. My husband, Carleton, adores sriracha sauce… he puts it on everything from eggs to ice cream, literally every single day.

So being that my latest obsession is with popsicle recipes, I took it upon myself to create a sriracha popsicle for his birthday last week. Get the mango-coconut-sriracha pop recipe after the jump… (more…)

Kiwi Crate: Super Mom’s Secret Weapon

kiwi crateWe’ve loved Kiwi Crate for a long time so when they invited us to try a kit and share our experience with y’all, we jumped on this fun sponsored opportunity. As expected, the kit (farm-themed this month) was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. What I didn’t anticipate was that since we now have a reader in the house, Clare was able to run the show, with her trusty sidekick Quinn standing by to lend a hand. Guys, you should totally teach your kids to read, it’s awesome.

My heart swelled with pride as I watched them follow the instructions…

Flower Friday: Rose and Eucalyptus Body Scrub

DIY Rose and Eucalyptus Salt Scrub (1 of 1)
In our first Simple Homemade Body Scrub we used granulated sugar, so this time I wanted to try something new by making it with sea salt. I asked Greta from Glasswing Floral for some help and we got straight to work. This recipe is incredibly easy to make and smells absolutely wonderful.
