Happy Monday Prudent Mamas! We have a special treat for you today. Jamie from Scattered Thoughts of a Crafty Mom is here to kick off our week with The Fitted Apron Top. The thing we love about this top is that it’s light and airy, which is perfect for escaping the summer heat. I’m hearing the words ninety degrees way too much lately. Since June gloom is clearly on its way out, let’s get to sewing up a nice and cool Apron Top.
Where I’m traveling this weekend: Seriously, how cool is technology? I am writing this post from my flight to Club Med Sandpiper Bay to check out the newly remodeled resort and meet up with some of my favorite bloggers including Katie Granju, Cool Mom Picks, HuffPost’s Spilled Milk and I am Momma Hear Me Roar. Sadly, I pulled a major mama foul and we missed our flight so my poor hubz is still at DFW trying to catch a ride. Tell me, when will the mommy brain end? Please tell me it does. Hopefully we will be terrorizing golfers with stray balls by the time you read this. But until then, here’s some internet goodness for you…
Random Blog we are crushing on:Kitten Bear has won me over with these crazy fun and Dino-Planters that belong on my kitchen island. In addition to DIY goodness, she has mad style and killer recipes.
Project we wish we had done: I’ve been stalking Jenny Holiday on Pinterest for a while but just spotted this dreamy Summer Traveling Art Kit that she put together. Want that bad.
Our excitement for the week: Did you see that we launched a Prudent Baby You Tube Channel? We would love it if you would head on over and subscribe!
Phew! The Boneaus finally made it to Club Med Sandpiper Bay. We’ve spotted dolphins, drank champagne on a deck, signed up for two days of fun sporty activity and buffeted the night away (is buffeted a word?) but what impressed me most? Fresh baby food purees in the buffet! They know the way to a mama’s heart around here even when my babies are 1000 miles away. If you want to see more of the conversation, follow @Prudent Baby and #BlogClubMed on Twitter all weekend!
In honor of the new Silhouette Cameo & Rhinestone Starter Kit offer, I whipped up one of our Boxy Toiletry Bags to hold my mama gear and protect it from danger in these splashy Summer months. I’ve found my camera, phone, wallet, etc. at the bottom of a damp towel bag too many times, so I quickly stitched our easy toiletry bag and lined with interfacing and waterproof Babyville Boutique PUL. I finished it with the perfect zipper from Zip-It Zippers and leather accents. The sparkly rhinestone & leather camera patch? I made that on my handy Silhouette Cameo, of course. Read on for a hot new deal on the Silhouette and the Rhinestone Starter kit. (more…)
Everybody needs a best friend and a vacation. I feel so lucky to have had both! Thank you for the long weekend in Italy. I adore you. We are the richest women in the world.
XOXO Jaime
P.S. Hey Prudent Mamas, we hope you like our get-rich-quick scheme. Jacinda and Jaime are proud to announce the launch of our all-new Prudent Baby You Tube Channel. Come on over to check it out and subscribe. We are going to have so much video-style fun! Eek!
Have you heard of the haven of handmade crafts and cuteness called Wild Olive? Talk about blogs to be crushing on. When I first saw the Cuckoo Clock Ornament Mollie made I couldn’t wait to check out more. Her You Stitched Up My <3 embroidery pattern is a perfect gift for a loved one and the Mum Hairpins are almost so cute it hurts.
Today though, Mollie is gonna teach us all about the technique of how to nicely back and hang an embroidery hoop. This is a great tool to know for giving your finished embroidery a professional look in a hoop and by keeping all those straggling and criss crossing threads hidden. Pull out your embroidery supplies and grab a hoop. What do you say? Let’s get to work…
This is How to Make a Watermelon Keg and Agua Fresca Recipe.
This watermelon “keg” was our gift to Carleton for Father’s Day yesterday. That and some really dorky scones. The watermelon drink dispenser was totally simple to make – the hardest part was finding a tap, but I figured out a solution for that. Scarlet helped with scooping out the watermelon flesh, which we used to make some popsicles as well as the refreshing batch of agua fresca that we served inside the melon (can we get a what-what for hot pink juice that is 100% natural?). Of course, dad and I later used the aqua fresca to make Watermelon Mint Jalapeno Mojitos, but that, my friends, is another post. However, the watermelon mimosa that I shared on facebook, well that’s self explanatory.
Find out how to make a watermelon into a keg/drink dispenser and get my super simple (every kid will love it, and almost every parent will love to spike it) watermelon agua fresca recipe… (more…)
Hello, Prudent Mamas! I’m Jaime and Jacinda’s ever-faithful assistant, Colleen. While those two lovely ladies are prancing about Florence and Umbria I am holding down the fort. You may remember me from such posts as the Make Your Own Hair Clip Board, and you got a quick glimpse of me in Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Irish Dance Dresses. As much as I wish I could say the photo of me dancing was taken only last month that would be a lie. I am now a nanny turned blogger (I couldn’t resist J & J’s charm and charisma) as well as the hair accessory designer for that little button on the right, Thumpkin. I like long walks on the beach, summer sunsets and making bubble beards with the toddler I watch. Now that you know everything you’ve ever wanted to know about me, let’s get started…
Random blog we are crushing on: With Father’s Day coming up I figured How to Be a Dad is the perfect blog to share with you. If you are looking for a good laugh you are guaranteed to get it from Andy and Charlie. Their Instructional Diagrams are my personal favorite, but their My Kid Just Said and My Wife Just Said categories are pretty good too.
Place we wish we were headed this weekend: To Italy with Jaime and Jacinda (hint, hint). Actually, I can’t complain. I took my own vacation across America (shown below) for the last 3 weeks and my last stop will be Portland in a couple of hours! Clearly, we all needed a vacation.
Favorite Comment of the Week: On the Homemade Cheez-It Apple Pie post Anshu said…This never fails to work. I am fasting today and every blog I look has some yummy recipe posted…even the crafty ones. Just not fair. I feel ya girl.
Favorite Song to Have a Car Dance Party To With the Kids:Carmencita. We like to sing the parts we know, la la la. La la la.
Quotes That Made Me Smile: I would love this for the living room and this for the bedroom.
Favorite Photo Caption: When Jaime and Jacinda asked you on facebook to give them a caption for this awesome photo Katelyn responded with, What happens in Italy…stays in Italy… lol. You are so right.
Well, that’s a wrap for this week’s Friday I’m in Love. I hope you enjoyed it! What were your favorite quotes you heard this week? What is something hilarious your kid said? We always love a good laugh.
Start Dad’s day off right with a delicious breakfast in bed. If you have a day of activities planned, you may want to go with something heartier like breakfast pizza. Does Dad love his sweets? Oh boy, do we have options for you…
