See we make boy stuff! I can’t believe we’ve never posted any pants. It kind of makes me feel bad for boys, all never being able to wear dresses. Or I guess it makes me feel bad for moms of boys, HA kidding! Boys are great, you’re so lucky, yadda yadda 😉

Anyhoo, I made these for Scarlet with a flat front, but that’s not required, this is just your basic how-to-make-pants beginner tutorial. You can totally do this. You can even make some pajama pants for dad if you have enough fabric. Flannel lounge pants would be so comfy. Easy Peasy.

Recently I took a trip to beautiful Portland, OR to visit my dear friend Alice and her family. Our kids all played and husbands rode bikes and beards were seen and local craft microbrews were drank. Alice’s husband Lewie is a world class tattoo artist at Atlas Tattoo parlour in Portland. He gave me my Scarlet tattoo a few years back. I knew I wanted another while I was in town.

Why a Pomegranate Tattoo?

I decided on a pomegranate because we had a pomegranate tree at the house I grew up in, before my parent’s got divorced when I was very young. With my recent life upheaval, finding out I was adopted, memorializing these memories of that house with a tattoo felt right to me. Also, the pomegranate is a symbol of prosperity and ambition, and I think they are beautiful. I realize tattoos aren’t for everyone, but if you are curious about the process, I took pictures along the way and you can see how I got my pomegranate tattoo after the jump…

I don’t love chocolate or chocolate chips. BLASPHEMY I KNOW! It just doesn’t do it for me, what can I say? I do, however, love me some cinammon. And some crumbles. And some crumb-topping, if you will. Can I get a what what? Is anyone with me? Who is craving a microwave oven coffee cake? A coffee cake mug cake is where it’s at.

So, I don’t always feel like making a giant coffee cake and eating it for three days straight until it’s gone. No, wait, that’s a lie. I do want to do that, but it’s really for the best if I can just make a single-serve microwave coffee cake. Reduces temptation, right? It’s just one of our single-serving dessert in a cup microwave dessert recipes.

So I messed around with ingredients, a measuring spoon, and a microwave, to see if I could create a crumbly, cinnamony mug coffee cake that could be made in a microwave in about five minutes at 11 p.m. while i watched The Notebook for the 5,000th time (hey girl, don’t even try to pretend you don’t love Ryan Gosling, I won’t hear it).

I think I’ve come up with a decent substitute for coffee cake, considering the small amount of time and effort that goes into it. Give it a try and tell me if you disagree.
